Becoming dependent on alcohol or drugs isn’t something that anyone expects to happen. However, alcohol and drug dependency or addiction sometimes creeps up on people – even you. One drink leads to another and another until you find you can’t get through a day without significant amounts of alcohol. The same thing can happen with drugs – whether they’re prescriptions or not.

Alcohol and drug dependency hurts the person with the problem, their friends and family members. In just about every situation, family relationships are strained and often, severely affected. The good news, however, is that addiction is a disease that is successfully treatable when you recognize that you need help. Behavioral addictions may also be treated within this program.

Windsor-Laurelwood’s Addiction Recovery Services offer you the opportunity to take control of your problem and to recover – one step at a time.

The Assessment
First, a thorough assessment of your physical, addictive and mental health issues will be completed by Windsor-Laurelwood behavioral health professionals. The results of this initial assessment will assist the treatment team in determining the best treatment plan and specific services required to meet your unique needs.

Your treatment team will collaborate with you to develop your personal treatment goals within the Addiction Recovery Services program model. The treatment program will empower you to take responsibility for recovery, assist you in building or strengthening your self esteem and in developing coping skills. ARS will also introduce you to 12-Steps programming and help you develop strategies to prevent relapse.

There are many services to aid you in your recovery process. Some of them are briefly described below:
    • Detoxification – Medically supervised detoxification on an inpatient or outpatient basis may be necessary to manage any complications that you may experience when you stop using alcohol or drugs. A physician, nurse, and certified chemical dependency counselor will monitor your physiological and psychological symptoms and provide management for withdrawal symptoms that you may encounter.

    • Residential Programs – Residential programs provide a 24-hour, 7-day structured schedule for individuals requiring intensive recovery programming. The programs include both group and individual work with a certified chemical dependency counselor and/or treatment supervision by a physician and nursing staff.

    • Dual Diagnosis – Often individuals find themselves dealing with the complications of addiction as well as mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. Behavioral health professionals have found that treating you for both the psychiatric and addictive illnesses simultaneously results in better recovery success. Through Windsor-Laurelwood’s inpatient, partial hospital and outpatient program specialties for dual diagnosis, you are provided with the intensity of services required by your unique needs.

    • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) – PHP offers comprehensive day treatment for the resolution and stabilization of your recovery from alcohol or drug dependency. You return home each night during program participation.

    • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) – IOP services at Windsor-Laurelwood Center for Behavioral Medicine Counseling Center locations provide you with 3 hours of programming, 3 days a week, designed to prevent the need for inpatient treatment for many recovering individuals. The IOP helps you gain insight into the disease of addiction and develop skills to help you succeed in your recovery.

    • Early Recovery Program – As you begin your life of sobriety and recovery, you may find that you need assistance in relapse prevention and mastering the ability to become part of the recovering community. This program will assist you in the transition from treatment to ongoing community support.

    • Education and Therapy – Our multidisciplinary team focuses on treating the whole individual and specifically how your illness impacts you. Our holistic approach – treating the mind, body and spirit of each person optimizes the opportunity for recovery to start quickly and continue successfully as you learn about your disease, your life and your future. Addiction treatment specialists provide a safe, confidential, supportive and structured therapeutic environment that helps you and your family make progress along the path to recovery.

    • State-Of-The-Art – Our treatment services incorporate the latest research on substance abuse and our treatment team uses the therapeutic skills adopted from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
